Halloween

The boys picked their own costumes this year.

Liam has known for about 2 months that he wanted to be Rex from Toy Story. So we bought his costume early. He was super excited. When we were at the trunk or treat and someone said he was a cute alligator he was sure to correct her with a loud declaration of "I'm Rex!" He sure is a cute dinosaur though!

Daniel went back and forth for awhile about what he wanted to be. Finally he decided to be an astronaut. We got him a cool costume from costco and he looks great! He loves to tell us he's going to the moon.

They love to chase each other around in their costumes and its super cute. As much as I wanted them to match, they sure are cute and they both love their choice!

Trunk or Treat

We didn't get to go to the trunk or treat for our ward this year so we went with friends instead to their wards. It was so much fun! We met lots of nice people and the boys got a ton of candy!

I think we got enough, don't you think?

Gilcrease Orchard

Last weekend I took the boys to Gilcrease Orchard for some Fall fun. Mike had to work so it was just me and the boys :)

It was a little chilly when we first arrived so we started with warm apple cider donuts. They were pretty good :)

Next we went on the hay ride. The hayride was missing something though....hay. It was really a tractor ride. They had 2 wagons to ride in and each one had 3 bales of hay you could sit on but they were covered in blankets so really no hay. It was a fun ride though and really long and we all enjoyed it :)

After the hayride we saw the chickens and went through the hay maze. It was just a little maze but it did have tunnels full of hay which Daniel loved and Liam and I walked around. We all went through together and then Dan wanted to go alone. So I let him go in and he was taking a while so I went in to get him once I realized he was just going back and forth in the tunnels.

It was a cute little orchard. Maybe next time we'll go pick a pumpkin or some apples if we come earlier in the season.

decorate pumpkins

We got 2 little pumpkins at the carnival we went to for Mike's work. We let the boys decide what they wanted to do with them. Liam wanted daddy to paint a face on his and make it a jack-o-lantern. Daniel wanted to paint his pumpkin.

General Conference

We loved conference this year! The messages were inspiring and gave me the boost I needed. We set up our tent for Saturday and the boys loved watching the sessions in the tent. Since Liam was sick he especially liked it. We read books, ate snacks and drew pictures during the sessions.

On Sunday we took the tent down and for the morning session we wrote in our journals. The boys drew pictures and played with stickers. In the afternoon Daniel and Mike went over with family to watch the last session while I stayed with Liam.

This past conference had a lot of great messages. Here are a few of my favorites.

Two words stood out to me at this past conference: intentional and deliberate.

"We must deliberately take time each day to disconnect from the world and connect with heaven." (Elder Stephen W Owen)

"If you hesitate in this adventure because you doubt your ability, remember that discipleship is not about doing things perfectly; it’s about doing things intentionally. It is your choices that show what you truly are, far more than your abilities.6
Even when you fail, you can choose not to give up, but rather discover your courage, press forward, and rise up. That is the great test of the journey.
God knows that you are not perfect, that you will fail at times. God loves you no less when you struggle than when you triumph.
Like a loving parent, He merely wants you to keep intentionally trying." (Elder Uchtdorf)
These two messages inspired me to be more intentional and deliberate with everything I do. If I am going to study the scriptures then I need to pray and set aside the time and then focus and listen for what I can learn.
Another talk I really liked was given by Peter M. Johnson. He taught about overcoming the three D's of the adversary which are: Deception, Distraction and Discouragement. We overcome them by reading the Book of Mormon everyday, praying everyday and loving God.
Overall my message from conference was to get my life in order and more fully focused on the Savior. Let go of the worldly distractions that have little to no value. I'm so grateful for all the messages I received and that we have a living prophet today to guide us.
