4th of July

We had a quiet July 4th this year. My parents came up to visit which was fun but we decided to stay home. Last year since Daniel was only a few weeks old we went over to Greenville but this year since we have a very active boy who can't quite walk on his own yet and doesn't know its a holiday, we decided to stay home and just do sparklers.

We spent the day playing games, watching movies and we also went to Strawberry Hill. After a yummy dinner (we had the traditional burgers, fruit, potato salad, baked beans and pie for dessert), we went to the park and had a lot of fun playing with Dan and then we did sparklers with him. He didn't get too excited and mainly just seemed confused. He luckily didn't try to touch them like I thought he would. Mike did help him to hold one but he still seemed a bit concerned. That made me happy that we didn't go to Greenville, I think he may have been scared of big ones. I guess we'll find out next year :)

Daniel also started doing something new at dinner on the 4th. For dinner I made him a plate of potato salad, baked beans, watermelon and strawberries. He started eating the beans first and was doing great. Then my mom gave him some fruit and this boy loves fruit. So he inhaled that like it was the last fruit on earth but then he wouldn't eat the beans or potato because he could still see the fruit. So once he finished the fruit he proceeded to eat the beans and potato salad until I cut up some more watermelon then he stopped and wouldn't eat a bite until the fruit was gone. He has been doing that everyday since. Its pretty cute. He isn't picky about what he eats (he eats just about everything) but if he sees fruit he has to eat it first :)

We had a great 4th though. I was great to celebrate Independence Day together and remember all of the wonderful things about this country and the sacrifices that were made so that we can live in this country and have the freedoms we enjoy.
