Happy Halloween!

This was Daniel's first Halloween and even though I know he won't remember this Halloween, I will so I wanted it to be special. We decided that we would have Dan be Winnie the Pooh and that Mike and I would be Tigger and Piglet. So we had it all planned out but then came the day of our wards trunk or treat and we still didn't have Daniels costume! Mike ran out and couldn't find a pooh bear costume but he was able to find a Tigger costume :)

We made a last minute change and so Daniel was Tigger and Mike was Christopher Robin and I was still Piglet. We were able to shrink Dan's costume a little bit so it wasn't falling off of him. He loved wearing his costume. I was worried it would really bother him but he was great all night. We had a lot of fun taking him trick or treating and showing off our adorable little boy! We won an awards for best Disney family too which of course we give Daniel all the credit for :)

Daniel really enjoyed his candy after we got home ;)

Dan's Trip to the Zoo

On Tuesday we decided to stay close to home and take Daniel to the zoo for the first time. So we went to visit Greenville. Even though I know that Daniel can't enjoy the animals it was still a lot of fun to take him and show him the animals. It was also fun to just imagine what it will be like when he is older.

All of the animals were fun to see but the best part was the leopards. Normally cats in a zoo are boring since they are sleeping or just pacing up and down the cage. Tuesday though all of the cats in the zoo were awake and the leopards were particularly active. They were climbing around on the tree branches and we got to see a leopard fight! One of the leopards was on a tree branch and the other leopard was watching from the other side of the cage. Suddenly the one leopard ran across the cage and jumped onto the tree branch and the two went crashing down to the ground. The tree branch broke and they were growling and roaring at each other. It was pretty exciting!

It was so much fun to go to the zoo as a family and even though Daniel was too young to know he was at the zoo, it was still so great! We love animals and I really hope that Dan loves it too!

Happy 4 Months!

Happy 4 months my sweet bugaboo!

His stats:
Weight- 13 lbs 9oz
Height- 23 1/2 inches

- Daniel still loves to be swaddled to sleep. He has figured out how to get himself out but most of the time he stays all bundled up. It is pretty cute though when he just gets one arm out or just his little fingers poke out.

- He still loves bath time! He loves to splash and play in the tub. I think giving him a bath is one of my favorite things to do with him because he is so happy during it.

- He is wearing 0-3 month clothes but his coming home from the hospital outfit is still big on him (its newborn!)

- We started using the bumbo more which I love because its easy to move to wherever I am in the apartment but Dan doesn't like it for long periods of time. It restricts his movement which he really isn't a fan of.

- Dan is so strong! He is starting to try to pull himself up when he is laying down and doing little baby crunches. He is doing better with tummy time and doesn't get frustrated with it as quickly as he did. He is great at holding his head up and reaching for his toys.

- He is such a happy baby now! He usually only cries when he is hungry and when he has to burp. He likes to snuggle and be held but he won't fall asleep in our arms anymore unless he is just completely exhausted :(

- We are so blessed to have a baby who is such a good sleeper. He has never had his days and nights mixed up. We have a nice bedtime routine now. He gets a bath and then we feed him. Then we sit and read scriptures together and say our prayers. Its a nice wind down to the day. Once we put him down he will sleep about 8 hours or so which is great for us.

-He has discovered his fingers and hands so they are always in his mouth! He frequently gets frustrated when he realizes that he cannot keep his hands in his mouth while he eats or when he has his pacifier in his mouth.

- Dan is so close to rolling over. We're increasing the amount of tummy time and side time we do to help him get even stronger and to help his head round out since it is a little flat.

Notice the hand out of the blanket...silly boy :)

Carolina Raptor Center

One thing we knew we wanted to do while Mike was out of school was to go out to dinner at the cheesecake factory. So while we were in Charlotte we found this place that helps injured birds of prey called the Carolina Raptor Center. Mike loves falcons and hawks so I knew he would really enjoy it. It was nice but it would've been better if the weather had been nicer but we had the whole place to ourselves which was awesome so we could be loud and take our time.

We also got to see some cool birds while were there. We saw eagles, owls, hawks, falcons and some other types that I can't remember the name of. Most of these birds are there because they were hurt and so they can't fly and some were imprinted on humans so they can't live with other birds.

Bald Eagle- They had six

Red Tailed Hawk- Mike's favorite

After seeing the birds we went to cheesecake factory and had a very yummy dinner and oh so delicious cheesecake :) All in all it was a great day to spend with my little family and Daniel was a champ the whole day!

Cross Country

This last weekend my dad brought his cross country team up to Dorman High School in Spartanburg for a meet. Since its so close to us we decided to go see my dad and let Dan see his grandpa too.

Before Dan was born my dad bought him a shirt that said 'future patriot' since my dad coaches the patriots at Fort. We put the shirt on when he was first born and it swallowed him and when we put it on this past weekend the difference was amazing! I can't believe how much he's grown in just a few months...it makes me sad and happy all at the same time. We had a great time cheering the team on though!
