San Francisco

Mike has started working with a coach to help him start his chiropractic business. The name of the group is New Beginnings and at the beginning of October they had a conference in San Francisco. It was just one day so we debated how we would get there. At first we were going to fly but we waited too long to get tickets so we decided to drive. It was about 12 hours to San Francisco but we were up for it. I was excited because it was my first trip to Northern California!

We left super early in the morning and had a lot of fun driving to San Francisco. The drive was really pretty. The best part was driving from Reno to Sacramento. We stopped at Donner Lake which was beautiful. The pictures didn't do the scenery justice.

Reno, NV Temple

Getting into San Francisco was interesting. California never fails to amaze me with its horrible traffic but San Francisco may have been the worst. We went across the Bay Bridge (which took forever) into Oakland and let me tell you...you couldn't pay me to go back to Oakland. I have never been so scared in a city or so disgusted by what I saw. I was so happy to leave and go back into San Francisco. We found out the next morning that their was a baseball game on Friday night so the traffic in the opposite direction was awful. When we finally made it to our hotel we were ready to relax. We stayed at a 5 star hotel that is usually over $600 a night. It was nice but really nothing spectacular. We hit the gym as soon as we got there because after 12 hours in a car it felt good to move. Then we got dinner and ate in our hotel room, in our pj's and watched Gilmore Girls :) A lovely and relaxing evening. Then the best part was that we went to bed early and slept for 8 hours completely uninterrupted!

The conference was on Saturday and it was awesome! I was worried that I would be bored because I'm not a chiropractor but they did a great job showing how the principles and skills you use to be a better chiropractor can also help you to be a better spouse, parent and just overall person.

"You must surrender who you are, to become who you were meant to be!"

"My attitude determines my altitude and I choose to fly very high"

"I am not raising wolves. I am not raising sheep. I am raising sheep dogs- they protect the sheep from the wolves"

We headed for home that night. I had two requests of things to do on this very short trip. One was to see the Golden Gate bridge and actually drive across it and the second was to see the house that they used for the exterior of the house in Full House.

Driving to see the house was kind of fun because I got to experience some of the famous San Francisco hills. The roads are scary though and don't make any sense. The house was fun to see though! I love that they put up a gate so people would stop sitting on the steps haha but I bet its annoying having people constantly taking pictures of your house.

The Golden Gate Bridge was amazing! It didn't disappoint for sure! It was bigger than I expected and it was beautiful in the sunshine.

The city

Alcatraz

Instead of driving through the night we stopped halfway in Winnemucca, NV. Mike did great on the drive though.

On the way home we stopped at the Bonneville Salt Flats. I was a bit sad because most of it was covered in water. It was really pretty though but a little bright.

It was a great trip and got us all fired up for opening Mike's practice here in Utah!

Lately

We've had a lot going on lately. Daniel and Liam are growing so much! Daniel has started talking a little more but he still doesn't talk a lot. He is the best at saying no and yeah. He is incredibly smart and its obvious that he understands what we say. He is such a good helper and can be so sweet. I love when he gives me hugs and kisses. He has also gotten more uncomfortable around large crowds. He is usually fearless but when we've been in large crowds he just wants to be held and he stays close when he's walking.

Dan is also starting to act a little like a baby again. He has been climbing into Liam's crib and sitting in the bumbo. I know he loves Liam but I think he still wants to be the baby. He is such a good helper though. If we ask him to go get something he is on it and if we start to do it then he runs to get it done first. He is silly and makes us laugh. He has grown attached to his teddy bear. Nothing can ever happen to this bear. The only way we can get him to leave him at home is to tell him that teddy needs a nap and then Dan will tuck him into bed :)

Liam is growing so much. He is still a really calm baby. He really only cries when he's hungry or super tired. He has a big smile and such a cute laugh. He loves to chew his fingers and is starting to grab for things. He also has started rolling over! He is really good at going from belly to back and he's almost able to go from his back to his belly.

Happy 4 months mr. magoo

My baby boy is 4 months old! I can't believe it and he just keeps getting cuter!

- Liam started rolling over. On September 10 he rolled from his belly to his back and he's been doing it ever since. He's almost able to get from his back to his belly, he can get to his side but I don't think it'll be much longer until he's got it down.

- He is still wearing 3-6 month size clothes but that big belly makes it tricky sometimes :)

- Liam loves his bumbo!

- He always has his hands in his mouth these days and is grabbing everything he can reach. He's gotten a few good clumps of hair in the past week. I'm pretty sure he is starting to get a tooth because he is drooling like crazy and chewing everything

- He loves to be swaddled and he also loves to cuddle with mommy and daddy. He also loves the hugs and kisses he gets from his big brother!

- He is almost sleeping through the night. He still gets up once but most of the time he'll sleep until between 4 and 5.

- He loves music and being sung to. His favorites are "The Itsy Bitsy Spider", "Give Said the Little Stream" and "Winnie the Pooh" (although Daniel sometimes gets mad when I sing the winnie the pooh song to liam when he's around because that was our song)

- He loves bath time! When he and Daniel take a bath together he doesn't take his eyes off Dan. I am pretty sure he is processing how to do everything he sees his brother do so he'll be ready.

We love you Liam!

Utah

Last week Mike and I took a trip to Utah to find an office location and a place for us to live. Its a story for another post but we are moving to Springville, Utah. So while we were there we decided to see how many temples we could go to in Utah. We ended up going to 7 of them.

We didn't take the boys with us so we took advantage of that by going to BYU and going to a soccer game. We went to see BYU women's soccer and also to Brick Oven for pizza. They won the game!!!! We also got free game shirts!

We did our engagement pictures in Big Cottonwood Canyon so on our way home we drove through the canyon and we went back to the same place that we took our pictures but no snow this time!

We went to BYU Creamery every day we were there!! The first day we got there I called my friend Emma who is going to BYU and so we got ice cream with her. It was so much fun to catch up!

We are really excited to be going to Utah and we're hoping to have lots of success there!! Fingers crossed that everything goes well!

Happy three months Mr. Magoo

Its crazy that our little guy is already 3 months old!

Weight: 13 lbs 4 oz
Height: 25 1/4 inches

- Liam is such a relaxed and chill baby. He got his shots and didn't even cry. He really only gets upset if he is hungry, gets really hot or is super tired.  Most of the time though he is a happy baby! He does like his routine though which sometimes makes it tricky to go places because its different but we still try.  Its nice having a mellow baby to contrast the crazy toddler!

- Liam is still getting about 90% breastmilk! I'm super excited about this because with Daniel I was completely done by this point. Liam eats and eats and eats though which is why he has such a big belly :) He isn't the best at burping though so he has gas a lot.

- He loves to be held by mommy and daddy but he has to be facing out with his back to our chest. He just loves to see the world around him. He has been so alert since day 1.

- He isn't a huge fan of tummy time but I think that's just going to make him roll over because he is always trying to get out of that position.

-  Liam is so close to sleeping through the night. Right now he is only getting up once at night which is awesome! Right now he usually sleeps from 8pm until 4ish and then until between 8 and 9 on a good day.

- Liam is super observant too. He is always looking around. Sometimes I think he gets frustrated in his car seat because the cover is blocking his view so he'll calm down and be happy if we open it and just let him look around and talk to him.

- He is still a smiling baby especially when we tickle him and sing to him songs from "Little Einsteins" and he almost has the laugh down. I love when he talks back to me and we have little conversations. He also loves to do raspberries now!

- Liam is still wearing size 1 diapers and is in 3 month clothes.
