Train Day

Last weekend I took the boys to the Narrow Gauge train museum in Portland. First I have to say that I  was so proud of myself for finding the museum. I had never driven in downtown Portland and I was so excited that we made it especially since the boys were excited.

Daniel was so excited to see the trains (or the choo choo's as he calls them)! He loved exploring and the workers were so nice to him. They showed him everything. Daniel tried to crawl through the shoot where they put the coal and got soot on him and grease. The workers were so nice though and helped me get him cleaned up.

After he was almost all cleaned up

Daniel couldn't stay off the trains but Liam was a little hesitant. Once Liam got on the train though he loved it and both of them were all over the place.

The museum even had train tables set up for kids to play with and tables with coloring stations. Daniel and Liam would've stayed all day.

The museum did a scavenger hunt and the boys got hats for doing it. They loved being train engineers!

We got to do a train ride too! Daniel was especially excited to get to ride a train. The best part was that we had most of the train car to ourselves and we also got a nice view of the ocean during the whole ride.

It was an awesome day at the museum! We can't wait to go back!

brotherly love

 Dan and Liam fight like all brothers do but every now and then they have moments that remind me that they love each other.

outside time

The weather is beautiful in Maine right now. I'm loving it and I've made it a goal to be inside and home only when we have to be. We're taking full advantage of being able to be outside. This means we make lots of trips to the park.

Flour

We've been learning about food during school for the last couple weeks. We've learned where it comes from and how to grow different things. One of our lessons was to bake bread. So we read the Little Red Hen and learned about wheat and where we get flour to make bread. Daniel and I made bread in a bag. It was a pretty easy recipe and it was my first time making bread from scratch without a bread maker. Dan actually did a lot of the work though :) The bread turned out to be very yummy!

The other part of the lesson said to do a sensory activity and let the child play with flour. The lesson said to just put a towel out but I figured since it was sunny and 80 degrees outside the day we did this lesson that the boys could just go outside and play with flour and make a mess and I wouldn't have to worry about the mess. The boys had so much fun! They loved making themselves into ghosts. The only downside was that it took forever to get them clean but they had fun and thats what matters :)

Daniel's haircut

Daniel got a haircut but that's not the exciting part. The exciting part is that Daniel didn't cry during the haircut. He normally cries and screams during a haircut but he was happy to do it this time.
