school at home

We've been doing school at home for a week and a half now and Dan is enjoying it. His favorite thing right now is to listen to stories read online. We use storyline Online which has celebrities reading books to kids and we do that for at least a half hour everyday and sometimes more. Dan and Liam enjoy it. Their favorite books are Clark the Shark and When a Dragon Moves In. Dan is doing well with his writing too and his reading has exploded! He reads everything now!

He loves school so much that he asks me when we're going to do it. We're still working on a rhythm but between his teacher sending us stuff and the district and just things from websites his teacher recommends...we're busy!

7 magic mountains

With all this social distancing, we haven't been going out much. Then the weekends were crap weather for a couple weekends so we stayed home anyway. Then last weekend it was finally nice so we went outside. We went to check out somewhere in Vegas we'd never been...7 magic mountains. It was pretty cool. The rocks look totally fake but its impressive and pretty. The boys had a great time playing the dirt! They also played a game of calling out a color and then having to race to that rock.

So with this corona virus the boys and I have been spending a lot of time at home. We did venture out though a couple weeks ago before everything got super crazy and got ice cream at IKEA. We actually went for new dishes but we needed a treat.

I didn't realize but this was Liam's first time having ice cream in a cone. He asked for a spoon to eat it with and I thought he just wanted to be like Dan but I'm pretty sure he thought the cone was a type of bowl. When I told him he could eat the cone he was amazed haha

While Mike and Dan were at the mint 400 Liam and I got to spend the day together. We spent the day at the park and we went for a long bike ride. We were so happy that it was such a beautiful day.

Last weekend Mike and Dan went to the Mint 400 together. They had so much fun watching the races. Dan made a friend and they played together for awhile. Daniels favorite part were the helicopters :)

Dan also made $7 at the race. He went around picking up trash and some people noticed and thought it was really nice of him to do and wanted to pay him.

At Christmas I got the book Wildly Optimistic by Al Carraway. First of all, it is an amazing book! I think everyone should read it. I wish I could just have her follow me around because he writing just fills you up and if I could have her just whisper some of the things she writes in my ear throughout the day I would be a happy woman. I didn't read it right away but I started reading it after a particularly difficult trial and it was just what I needed to pick me back up!

So this past weekend she came to Deseret Book here in Vegas and I got to meet her and have her sign my book! She is one of the nicest people and I'm so happy I got to meet her and say thank you :)

pizza night

Daniel has had some great weeks of school lately. We stopped having him watch tv after school so he gets to pick a different activity he wants to do. One day he decided he wanted to help me make homemade pizza for dinner. So he learned how to make the dough and got to put the toppings on the pizza. He was so excited that he made dinner. I think it was a success because he ate 4 slices!
