The aquarium opens with penguins. They were definitely the high light of the aquarium for me and the boys. They were feeding them while we were there and Dan loved watching them feed fish to the penguins. Liam loved watching them jump into the water and swimming.
We saw the sea lions and the seals next and Dan especially liked them. They were really active so it was fun to watch.
They liked the fish until after the seals. So the first few tanks they really liked.
Liam kept saying hi to all the fish |
Daniel and Liam both yelled 'Dory!" |
They got to go to the touch tank but the way it was built made it hard for little kids to actually reach the animals easily. I had to lift them up a few times. It would've been nice if they'd had more animals and if they'd been a little easier to reach.
The rest of the aquarium was interesting. Looking back we probably should've just kept the boys in the stroller. Liam just wanted to run and didn't want us using the backpack with a leash and once we put him in the back pack Dan freaked out and got super upset and wanted to be in it too but he's too big. So once Dan got upset it was tough to really calm him down so the rest of the time he was just super easy to set off. Liam was scared once we went farther into the aquarium because it was dark and their were lots of people. We did our best to help them to enjoy the aquarium the best they could. We'll know better next time... I think Daniel got some enjoyment out of it and liked it well enough but Liam would've been better in the stroller.
The aquarium has a 23 foot tall tank which Mike and I liked but we didn't love it. We were a little disappointed with it but some of the animals were still cool to see.
Honestly, it wasn't a horrible aquarium but we were a little disappointed. Its not very big and a little disappointing in its lack of diversity. Some of the animals could be bought at pet stores. I also didn't like the design of the aquarium because its a bit too open. The boys kept trying to climb over the edges of the ramps. Some of the things we could change but I don't think we'll come back to this aquarium for a long while. Still though the experience wasn't a complete loss and truthfully seeing them get excited about the penguins and the Finding Nemo fish made it all worth it.
