Disneyland Day 1

We got up early for our first day at Disneyland. I've never seen the boys wake up so excited. We ate breakfast and then had to catch the bus to take us to the park by 7:30 but we were out there at 7:20.

I'm glad we got going and got to the park about a half hour before it opened because the lines for security weren't long. Then we had to wait for the gates to open but that wasn't too bad. Once the gates opened and we got through we still had about 15 minutes until the park opened. So we could walk Main Street but thats it. It wasn't too crowded and really the most annoying part was that it was humid and cloudy in the morning. We loved seeing Main Street though! The castle is smaller than I expected though. Its beautiful and very fun to see but smaller than I think it looks in pictures.

First view of the castle

Once the park was officially open we went to Fantasyland first. Our first stop of the day was Dumbo! We were the only people on it! The worker was even happy to take our pictures. I was worried Liam wouldn't want to ride but he loved it! By the end of the ride our elephant was as high as it would go.

Our next ride- the tea cups! We split up again for this ride because Mike wanted to spin the cup fast for Daniel but Liam was still nervous so he didn't want to spin it the first time. Again we were all alone! The boys loved getting to choose any cup they wanted. This ended up being a favorite ride!

After the tea cups we were trying to find our way towards Toontown. While we wandered the boys had their first character encounter. They met Peter Pan. Liam was more interested than Daniel but thats likely because they have no idea who Peter Pan is. He was great with them though!

Then we passed the Matterhorn and Mike found out Dan was tall enough to go and since their was no wait again they went on the ride. Dan's first big ride! What's crazy is that he had to sit alone because its a bobsled and its dark and he was in the front seat of the sled! He was a little shaken when he came out. He wasn't crying but he did say he didn't want to do that again and that he didn't like not being able to see daddy. While they did that- Liam and I did a little more exploring!

The shock wore off quickly :)
We still had a little time before toontown opened at 9 so we decided to ride its a small world. Again we were basically alone. This ride was nice and slow and slightly creepy. I just kept imagining all the dolls coming to life. Everyone else liked it though and the kids liked finding all the characters through the ride.

Nemo and Dory

Woody

We wanted to be the first ones in Toontown so we waited for them to open the gate. While we waited the boys picked up leaves to clean the sidewalk.

We loved ToonTown! This area was perfect for the kids. We got to meet Pluto which Liam was so excited about! I just love that he actually gets down like a dog :) We also got to see Mickey and Minnie's houses and meet Mickey Mouse! We also went on the Gadget Coaster (again alone) but Liam didn't want to try it- its the only ride he didn't want to do. My first coaster too!

Mickey's house!
