We spent a lot of time trying to figure out a name for our little guy. For a long time his name was going to be Jordan. We would call him Jordan and when we were doing the shots and the IUI we would joke that this was 'Project Jordan'. Then when I was a few months along, I decided to come up with some more options for names in case when he was born the name Jordan just didn't fit.
We came up with the list of about 5 names that Mike and I both liked or at least agreed on. One of the names on the list was William. I liked the name because my maiden name was Williams so I thought William would be a nice way to kind of name him after me and have it be a family name.
Then I was looking up the meaning of all the baby names we liked and I found out that William means "strong willed warrior" or "resolute protector" and I really loved how strong of a name it is. While I was reading I saw that another form of the name is Liam and it is the Irish form of the name. I could not get the name Liam out of my head and it quickly became a top contender. By the end of my pregnancy and up until he was born our top two names were Jordan and Liam. When he was born Mike looked at me and just signed the letter L and we both knew our little boys name was Liam.
Liam's middle name has never changed. I knew that I wanted his middle name to be Thane after my dad. Ironically the name Thane also means warrior. I like to give my kids their own individual first name but I like for the middle name to be after a family member. I was super excited to be able to name Liam after my daddy! I hope that both my boys can look up to their papa!
