Easter 2016

We had a wonderful Easter this year. It was filled with family, friends, good food, yummy treats and also a wonderful day at church where we got to remember that our Savior's Atonement and Resurrection are the reason for the season.

We started our morning by giving each other our Easter baskets and our traditional books. We opted to give Daniel his stuff after church so we did ours before he got up.

Don't we just have the cutest little Easter bunny ever!

Kate made delicious cinnamon rolls for us to have for breakfast! I probably could've eaten 4 of them but I wanted to be able to enjoy the rest of the day so I didn't but they were so good!

Church was wonderful too. We had a great sacrament meeting and I sang in the choir which was fun. Our other meetings were fun but I don't think anyone had as much fun as Daniel did in nursery. He didn't want to leave when he went to pick him up haha and if you know Dan then you know he loves cars so I'm positive he loved the Easter treat they did.

Then the Easter bunny came for Daniel! The Easter bunnies (i.e grandparents) and the Easter bunny were very kind to him this year :) I think his favorite thing was the broom and vacuum. This kid loves to help clean and started vacuuming right away! Thank you to all of the Easter bunnies who made it such a special day for Daniel!

It was a beautiful day too so we went outside and attempted some pictures.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter and that we can all remember that the treats, food, games and eggs are fun but the Savior is the reason for the season and hopefully we can remember our gratitude for all the Savior has done for us all year and not just at Easter.

First Easter Egg Hunt

This year Daniel went to his first Easter egg hunt! We didn't do anything last year since he was so little but this year some friends here in Vegas decided to do a small Easter egg hunt just for younger kids so that way they could actually get some eggs. It was super fun! It was just 4 families including us so it was a nice size. After the egg hunt we had yummy food and just sat and socialized while the kids played :)

Daniel was kind of confused at first but he got more into it. After getting quite a few eggs though he started just playing with the toys in the back yard. I thought he would stop after one egg though so he surpassed my expectations. He was happy though!

We got a little video of him looking but he got distracted by swinging the hammock instead. He got back on track though :) It was such a fun afternoon and it was really nice to spend time with friends and get to know people here better too.

6 Years!

On Friday Mike and I celebrated our anniversary! We have been married for 6 years now! Crazy!! I guess time flies when you're having fun right :)

In that 6 years we have graduated from BYU-Idaho, moved to Spartanburg, Mike graduated from chiropractic school, moved to Las Vegas, opened a chiropractic office and had 2 kids (well 10 weeks away from 2 kids)! Its been a crazy and wonderful 6 years and I wouldn't have wanted to go through it with anyone else :)

Mike got me flowers and we also got our truffles and sparkling cider which is an anniversary tradition. Mike also made me french toast for breakfast :) It was really yummy!

After breakfast I had a doctor's appointment. We had our 30 week ultrasound! So for our anniversary we got to see our little boy and find out that he is doing great and is nice and healthy :) After the doctors we went and picked up Daniel and went out as a family for another anniversary tradition....Coldstone Ice cream! This year we actually got Daniel his own little scoop of ice cream so we didn't have to share and he loved every bite of course!

Once Daniel was down for a nap Mike and I went and explored Calico Basin near Red Rock. It was really pretty and they have a nice boardwalk.

Then we went to Red Rock casino for lunch and to go to a movie. We got pizza for lunch which was good but unfortunately I ended up getting sick so we missed the movie. Mike's mom made us chicken alfredo for dinner so we put Dan to bed and had the house to ourselves while everyone went out. So we had dinner and watched a movie together. We also had delicious cake!

I felt much better once we got home so I got to enjoy dinner and dessert :) It was a really nice and relaxing anniversary minus the brief sickness. I love that Mike takes such good care of me when I don't feel good though :) I love you Mike! Its been a wonderful 6 years, I wouldn't change a thing! Here's to an eternity of adventures together!

currently...

Loving: this beautiful warm, sunny weather without the addition of humidity. I forgot that it can actually be pleasant to be outside when its 80 degrees! I love that it means I can take Daniel to the park everyday or we can just play outside and have lots of picnics!

Reading/Watching:  I just finished reading Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking by Susan Cain. I highly recommend this book, it was sooooo good! Right now I am reading The Body Book which is really interesting. I love learning how my body works and what I need to do to take care of it.

I'm not really watching anything right now. I need to catch up on Once Upon a Time though so that will probably be the next show I watch.

Trying to: not stress about everything we still need to do to prepare for our little boy coming in June. We still have so much to do and I have been having major anxiety. I've also been stressed about spending time with Daniel so I'm trying to find balance.

Wishing: that Mike's practice will be successful. He just opened his chiropractic office and  I'm just hoping that all goes well and he enjoys it and has success so that he can finally do what he went to school for and also so we can get a place of our own.

Excited for: our little 'baby-moon' trip that I'm planning to LA in a couple weeks!

Lemon Time

I wanted to make lemon squares for Easter this year. I decided to do it the night before to avoid having one more thing going on in the kitchen on Easter. So Stacey, Mike and I made them with some taste testing from Daniel :)

Mike has been wanting to have Daniel try a lemon since Dan could eat solid foods. I always said no because if he hated it then I didn't want him to resist anything else we gave him for the next few days. Mike just wanted to see the look on his face. Well, I don't think it went quite the way Mike expected.

After a few bites we just gave him the peel. He went to town on it! He actually starting eating the peel! I guess he likes lemons :)

Dying Easter eggs

We got to dye Easter eggs this year! Last year we didn't have time so I was excited especially since Dan would be old enough to 'help' or at least know what was going on. Mike's family dyes eggs differently. They use rice which is less messy than water and Dan could participate more but since he couldn't really see what was going on, it was harder for him to stay interested. He did help with a few eggs though.

27 Weeks

We made it!! We finally made it to the third trimester! Just 3 months to go until we meet this little guy.

One thing I've noticed about this pregnancy is that it has gone by super fast and I have nothing done! I've been getting a little overwhelmed about how much we still have left to get and do before this little guy comes. I also forget I'm pregnant a lot more which I think is just because I have a toddler to take care of which is a nice distraction.

Its not very hot here yet so I'm still wearing jeans everyday and most of the time I'm still a little cold haha. I'm sure in a few weeks though it will be hot and so I'm preparing for that :)

I did my glucose test a few weeks ago and no gestational diabetes yay! I am anemic though which I expected since I was with Daniel too. They wanted me to take an iron supplement but I said no since they make me super sick and constipated so I'm just eating foods with more iron. Overall though I'm feeling good still. Not too tired yet but I'm sure as we enter the third trimester the exhaustion will increase again.

Movement: This little boy definitely doesn't move as often as Daniel did but he is much more intense. Daniel was always moving and this little guy likes to move enough so I know he's there and then get himself into some interesting positions. Its a little more painful for me sometimes because he just sits and pushes on my ribs making a little hard to breathe at times. I love when I can feel him move though and he reminds me that he's here.

Exercise: I'm still able to exercise everyday. Its such a great stress reliever and I love it! I'm hoping I can keep going as long as I did with Daniel which was about 36 weeks but we'll see.

Food: Still no really intense cravings with this little guy. Every now and then I start to crave something like I really want pizza or chocolate but a chocolate chip cookie or a slice of pizza satisfies me so I don't feel like a pig.

What do I Miss?: Right now the biggest thing I miss is not getting up so often to go to the bathroom at night. Some nights are ok but a few nights a week I get up way too often and it always takes me forever to get comfy and go back to sleep. I also miss being able to go shopping. I keep seeing so many things I want but they won't work until after the baby comes.

Daniel is becoming more aware of the baby now. Whenever I ask him where baby brother is he rubs my belly and if I ask him to give brother a hug then he hugs my belly. Its so cute! I've also been spending more and more alone time with Daniel. I'm struggling with knowing that soon he won't be my baby anymore and it won't just be the two of us. So we try to go out just the two of us everyday. I'm excited to see Daniel as a big brother but I'll miss our alone time.

I'm excited for this little guy to come but also terrified...sounds about right I think. I can't wait to see what he looks like and to cuddle him.
