Hoover Dam

In a few months my parents are coming for the new baby. We've been trying to plan fun activities to do with them while they visit and the best way to plan is to do them ourselves and make sure they're fun, right?

So we loaded the car and went to see the Hoover Dam and Lake Mead which aren't far from Las Vegas. We didn't want to do a tour so we looked for a place to park for free and just be able to go see it. Luckily they have a bridge that you can walk to see the dam and free parking! The walk up to the bridge wasn't bad and the bridge was nice. The only downside was that it was a bit windy but at least it wasn't cold.

It's an impressive site. I don't think I could do a tour because I'd get claustrophobic but just seeing the outside was awesome! Lake Mead was also super pretty. I had forgotten how big it is! One day we'll actually have to go down to the water when it isn't so windy. It should be a fun thing to go do when the baby comes in a few months.

General Conference

We had a great time watching General Conference this time! Not only was the conference itself wonderful, but we also got to watch it with friends :) They have an 18 month little girl so Daniel had someone to play with too!

So in between sessions we went to let the kids play outside and we got to have adult conversation....ahhhh....its so nice to have friends to talk to. Daniel and Hazel were super cute though. They spent most of the time playing in the rocks and taking turns on the swing. Hazel even showed Daniel where the doggie door is :)

It was extra cute for me to see Mike over there with both of them since that's kind of a glimpse into the future although it will be two boys :)

While they were sitting and playing they were blowing kisses to each other and kind of hugging. It was super sweet!

So other than watching these two be super adorable. Daniel also had fun with a basketball almost as big as him and Mike also got very close with their dog Gracie. I know he wants a dog and she was very sweet but right now is not the right time. I have promised though that someday we will get him a furry friend and it can be a dog.

Lion Ranch

We found out about this Lion Habitat that is in Henderson. They have lion cubs who were having their first birthday. We decided it would be fun to take Daniel to see the lions because he loves lions so much and is always roaring. He was roaring and growling his way through the park, it was super cute!

It was really cool to be this close to lions. Often when you go to the zoo the lions are all sleeping or they are hiding in the corners so you never really get to see them. These guys were just behind fences about 3 feet away from us! It was almost like you could reach out and touch them. They looked so soft. We got to see the cubs too but surprisingly at one year old they don't look like babies anymore, these guys grow fast! I'm glad we went at this time of year though. They have little air conditioned houses for each lion that they turn on once it hits 90 and they said once that happens they pretty much live in those houses most of the day and I don't blame them one bit. We also found out that the lions they have here are part of the blood line of the original MGM lion...you know the one roaring at the beginning of movies. We thought that was pretty cool!
