pre birthday

So since I am turning 30 this year and we can't do a lot of the things I was planning we decided to stretch our celebrating out this year. So we started on the Sunday before my birthday with mike making an apple pie for me and having Mike and the boys sing to me. It was so sweet to have the boys both sing. Before the song Liam kept telling me he didn't know the words so he wouldn't be able to sing and then magically when Mike and Dan started he knew the words. So sweet! The pie was yummy too :)

Birthday pictures

We took some fun birthday pictures of the boys this year.

I can't believe Daniel is turning 6 in less than 2 weeks! He's so grown up!

My baby is turning 4! Excuse me while I go cry in the corner...

Aren't they handsome!! They're growing up too fast but I'm also excited for all the adventures we can have now that they're getting a little older. I told Liam the other day that I was sad he was turning 4 and he told me that I shouldn't be sad because he is excited to turn 4.

last day of kindergarten

Kindergarten is over! This has been the strangest year of school ever. Daniel had a very interesting first year of school. He switched from Mrs. Zermeno's class to Mrs. Williams class in February after a difficult 2 months. Then in March schools were closed for covid-19 and we started doing online learning. So then Dan got a third teacher- mommy.

It was a tricky 2 months. Some days were great and other days were a bit of a battle. I'm grateful that Daniels speech teacher did weekly zoom meetings with him. He loved getting to see Mrs. Kimball. He asked me almost every day when he was going to get to go back to school. Despite the struggles of the year though I am really proud of everything Dan learned this year. He has improved so much and I think he is ready for 1st grade no matter what that ends up looking like.

So now he's done and we did a little ceremony at home for him but we'll get his certificate when school starts again. Great job Dan!

picnics and bike rides

Sometimes we just have to get outside. I've learned that 3 consecutive days of being in the house is too many for me. So we're trying to get out and play and one fun way is to have picnics. The boys ran around after chasing birds and butterflies. Liam tries to catch them and Dan likes to scare them away.

Also the day before mothers day we went on bike/scooter ride at a new park. The boys had lots of fun having races.

another tooth

Dan lost his second tooth!

Liam's artwork

Liam has been doing a lot of drawing lately. Mostly while I'm doing school work with Daniel. He's getting pretty good. Birds and flowers are his favorite but he's also working on foxes and Olaf from Frozen.

He was trying to draw Olaf

Mothers Day

Mother's Day this year was a bit different. No church but it was a nice, quiet weekend at home. Honestly, it was a great weekend. I got lots of time with Mike and the boys and we even got out of the house for a little bit. Mike made me all of my favorite things and on Mother's Day I did absolutely nothing. It was a nice break to just get to do the fun things about being a mom and none of the more mundane tasks like dishes and laundry and making dinner.

The boys were super excited in the morning to bring me the flowers and card they made me. They also got me a giant hershey's bar with almonds...yum! Then we had danish for breakfast. The boys were extra good for church too. Mike made me a chocolate chip cookie cheesecake too which was amazing! Thank you sweetie and thank you to my boys for spoiling me all weekend and making me feel so special.

mothers day breakfast

Our traditional Saturday mom and boys mothers day breakfast looked a little different this year. Because of covid we weren't able to go out to eat this year. We were able to get a yummy treat from the store though and we still had fun spending time together. Also since we were home Mike joined us.

I hope that as the boys get older this is a tradition they want to keep.
