Mike will be finished with chiropractic school in 2 1/2 years and we don't want to stay in SC so we've been talking about where we would like to move after he finishes. One reason why we don't want to stay in SC is the terrible humidity that apparently I blocked out during my years in Idaho. One area of the country we agree on is the Southwest specifically Arizona. Now people tell us that we shouldn't move there because its hot and then they tell us where we should go instead. I'll just say this: the East coast is humid, the Midwest gets terrible storms and tornadoes, the Northeast gets tons of snow and ice during winter, the Northwest gets lots of rain, the southwest is hot...should I go on? but there must be something about these areas that people love and that's why people live there. The point...no area is perfect or immune to negatives, all that matters is that the good out weighs the bad.
So now some visualization of why we really loved Arizona! I think we're desert people.
Mesa Temple but the Phoenix one is being built and will be close to where we want to live. |
I just love how sunny it is and how much blue sky you can see. It is beautiful! Yes it was hot while we were there. I think the high while we were in Phoenix was 113*. We really enjoyed it though. You really only have to endure it for as long as it takes for your car to cool down and walk from one building to another. If you do want to do things outside you just get up early and then live in the pool in the afternoon or inside. Its also really only this bad for about three months and then it cools down and the best part....NO HUMIDITY!!!!! It is a beautiful thing! The key is to stay hydrated and you'll be fine. This area(Arizona) is definitely high on our list :)
I LOVE AZ!! We were just there last week, the day we got there it was 118* record high for that day but I still was LOVING it! Dry heat is so much more tolerable than humidity! I always feel at home when I go there and hope to move back someday! What area are you guys looking at? I lived in Gilbert and they are building a temple there too!
