East Coast Trip part 4: Maine

On Thursday we left Rhode Island so we could go up to Boston to pick up Stacey and Doug. We couldn't really think of anything we wanted to do in Boston all day though (that was free...remember we were trying not to spend money. I'm sure there is lots to do) so we decided to drive up to Maine instead. We figured we could cross two more states off our list by driving through New Hampshire and then spend the day in Maine.

Before we left, we went to breakfast with grandma. It was yummy and she treated us :) We really appreciated it and we loved getting to spend time with her!

The drive up to Maine was only a few hours but it was enough to let us know we don't like New Hampshire. We had to pay a toll just to get into the state and we were only in it for about 20 minutes! Also, too many liquor stores for my taste. The sign for the state was huge though!

I have seen pictures of Maine before but I always thought it can't be as beautiful as it looks. Wrong! It is more beautiful and the pictures don't do it justice. I'm sure its bad in the winter but when we were there it was absolutely gorgeous! I've never seen such blue water and I've now decided that if I go to a beach it must be rocky because that's the only way to do it. Its funny because I'm really not a beach person but this place might just convert me.

Eating our lunch by the ocean...should've gotten lobster :)

Once we were done staring at the ocean and playing in the cold water, we drove back to Boston to pick up Stacey and Doug. Can I just tell you....I hate the Boston airport. It is terrible!! It is awful to navigate that airport. We drove around 3 times before we realized the cell phone waiting area was actually outside the airport (no signs of course after the first one at the entrance) and then it took awhile to find out how to get back to departures without leaving so we didn't have to pay a toll. We finally picked them up though and then our adventures began!!

We went to see the Boston temple that night! It is beautiful and I had forgotten how big it is! It was the first of 3 temples we saw on our trip! This was a great start to our adventure :)
