Bryce Canyon

Now that Utah has reopened its national parks, we decided to make a trip back to Bryce Canyon. Last time we went in October and we froze. We didn't even hike because it was too cold. This time it was also nicer because it was a lot warmer and the boys could both walk the whole time and could handle more hiking. Even though the park is a little smaller, its still a fun place.

We got up early and got to the park around 9am. We drove straight to the end of the park at Rainbow Point for our first hike. The day started a little chilly and kind of cloudy but definitely warmer than the last time and it wasn't bad as long as you were moving. The first hike was in the forest and was about a mile. It was the Bristlecone Loop. The outlooks along the trail were beautiful. Some of the trees in the forest haven't recovered from fires and Daniel loved learning about what happens during forest fires and how the forest starts to heal after. It was fun to talk about and made the mile go super quick.

Another thing that is nice about Bryce is that you get a little more color than the other parks. You have a lot of green and trees as well as the rocks. So you get the orange, yellow, white and red rocks and the green trees which is super pretty.

After that hike we drove the scenic loop and stopped at all the view points along the drive.

Parking was hard to find but we finally did right by the entrance. Once we parked, we started hiking some of the Rim Trail to Sunset Point.

At the end of the hike we made it to the amphitheater. Beautiful!

As we were leaving Sunset Point we saw a chipmunk. The boys were so excited! He actually got pretty close to us. The boys decided to use rocks to make a little nest for the chipmunk. Liam also cleared an area that he said was for a garden and he planted a tree for the little guy. The chipmunk came and explored the area and the boys talked for a while about how much they hoped the chipmunk like his new home.

Once we made it back to the car, we'd hiked about 3 miles. Then we had lunch and the boys thought it was hilarious that we were eating in the back of the car.

It was a great day and we were all very tired by the end but we had fun :)
