Baby Makes 4!

Announcing Baby #2 June 2016!!!!

Yes its true! Daniel is going to be a big brother!! We're very excited for this new addition to our family. This baby was definitely not a surprise. For those who don't know, Mike and I have fertility issues so to have Daniel we had to do an IUI. Needless to say our chances of conceiving on our own are basically 0% barring a miracle. We were very grateful to get Daniel but we knew we wanted him to have siblings. We were going to wait until we got to Vegas to try for baby #2 but we really loved our fertility doctor in Greenville, Dr. Lessey and his whole team. So in August we decided to go for it. We would do one round and if it didn't work then we were going to wait until Vegas.

So in August I started doing the estrogen shots and taking progesterone. Mike has to give me the shots and for some reason they were a lot more painful this time than they were with Daniel. Mike thinks its because I'm smaller than I was when we tried to have Dan so with less fat, we were sticking the needle into more muscle which hurts more. I also had to go in a couple times a week to have my blood drawn and an ultrasound done. Timing is everything when it comes to getting pregnant and a successful round of IUI or IVF so they have to check often. In September, we had 4 follicles. Two of them were better than mature( at least 18mm) and two were slightly smaller (about 14-15mm). We made the call to do the ovulation shot and release all four, knowing only 2 had a chance for fertilization. Then we went in for the IUI on September 11, 2015. It was exactly one week earlier than we did the IUI for Daniel back in 2013.

Then we went on our East Coast trip while we waited to find out if we were pregnant. It was a good distraction but I was also really nervous the whole time. We went in on October 1st to have my blood drawn and find out if I was pregnant. I don't like to take the call from the nurse to get the news. After getting the call and hearing I wasn't, I ask them to call Mike. So Mike got the call in the afternoon but I had to wait. We were heading down to Charleston with Stacey, Doug and Joshua so Mike couldn't just tell me. So he asked me to come into Sherman and he showed me a picture on his phone to tell me. The rabbit died!!! (ps don't google pictures of dead rabbits...people are sick)

Can I just say that getting back in the car with everyone and acting like nothing had changed was the hardest thing I've ever had to do!!! Stacey, Doug and Josh didn't know but we went to cold stone to celebrate us being pregnant haha. We didn't want to tell anyone though until we'd had a chance to celebrate alone and to just process the news. So we spent that whole weekend knowing we were pregnant and said nothing for a few weeks actually. Then around 6 weeks we told our parents. Until I was out of the first trimester only family and a few close friends knew.

Baby #2 at 8 weeks :)
I am now about 13 1/2 weeks. I was sicker with this baby than I was with Daniel. With Daniel I didn't have any morning sickness at all. This time I was nauseous every morning and at night until about I was about 10 weeks. I found out that cashews were the only thing I could eat to get rid of it. So I would eat them every morning and then any time I felt sick. I only had a couple really bad days towards the beginning. Then Mike bought me PSI bands and they helped SO MUCH!!! Without them I know I wouldn't have been able to workout everyday or take care of Daniel. I haven't been sick for a while now though and I'm feeling better. I still eat slow just to make sure I don't get sick but I'm definitely better. I was still exhausted just like when I was pregnant with Dan but who knows if that was being pregnant or just being pregnant with a toddler...probably a bit of both.

I think Daniel has sensed that something has changed because right after we found out he was very clingy with me. I think he'll be a good big brother though. Its been a bit crazy being pregnant while packing but luckily I am out of the first trimester before we leave so the sickness if better and I'm not as tired! I can't wait to get to Vegas and get a doctor so we can see our baby again! By the time we get one I'll be close to 20 weeks so maybe we'll get to find out the gender! I honestly don't care if its a boy or a girl, just as long as its healthy. This baby is truly a blessing and I'm grateful that we only had to try once because I know its much harder for a lot of people. Thank you for all the prayers and support from those who knew when we were going through the process.
