Deck the Halls

We are in the process of moving to Las Vegas so we aren't decorating our apartment this year. I was really sad that Daniel was going to miss out on decorating for Christmas so my parents set up there Christmas tree over Thanksgiving weekend while we were there so we could help. I love decorating for Christmas so I was super excited!

When we pulled out the box that my parents keep the tree in, Daniel was a bit hesitant to touch it at first. He didn't want to get too close until grandpa pulled him over to his lap and let him watch the pieces come out of the box. It was actually kind of nice that he didn't want to touch it, made putting it together a lot faster :)

Daniel figuring out how to put this thing together
Joshua and Mike did most of the work putting the branches on the stand. It was super cute to see Daniel's face once it was together. Its like he was wondering why a tree a in the house? He would reach out with one finger, touch it and then run away looking concerned.

I really wanted Daniel to be part of decorating the tree too but we ended up doing after he went to bed. Although since he was nervous about the tree it may have been easier this way. My parents always do colored lights and I love it! I also love putting all the ornaments on the tree! Its so much fun to remember the stories behind the different ornaments and reminisce while we decorate.

The finished product!
After we finished the tree, I got to do one of my favorite things. I turned out all the lights except the tree and just sat in a quiet room and enjoyed the glow. I find it so relaxing and I can't wait to do it again in Vegas. Daniel was more excited by the tree in the morning. He still didn't like to touch the branches but we would touch some of the ornaments. I think he'll gradually get more comfortable with it but hopefully not too comfortable haha. He really loves looking at it though just like his mommy!
